PHILANTHROPY & SERVICE

PHILANTHROPY

Service is a core value of Phi Gamma Delta, and is an important aspect of becoming a better brother and person, in addition to helping those less fortunate than ourselves. It is an area where we strive for continual improvement.

In the Fall of 2019 we raised $1,300 for CARITAS Homeless Shelter and Addiction Treatment through our annual Car Slam event. This provided over 750 meals to the homeless people of Richmond.

In the wake of Coronavirus the chapter initiated a fundraising campaign to raise $2,500 more for the people affected by virus.

SERVICE

Each brother is required to complete a minimum of 15 hours of community service per semester. As a chapter with over fifty brothers, that totals nearly 800 total hours of service to the Richmond community. In the Fall semester we volunteered to help clear the historic Evergreen Cemetery as well as Civil War Battlefields. Additionally, we volunteered to plant trees in downtown Richmond and package dish ware sets with CARITAS to support rehabilitated families. While our semester was cut short in the spring, we were still able to complete over 150 hours of service.
